The South Australian wild harvest abalone fishery operate in line with Australian Government Guidelines for the Ecological Sustainable Management of Fisheries – 2nd Edition and is certified for export under the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC act). The Government department for Primary Industries Regions South Australia (PIRSA) and the Abalone Industry Association of SA have co-managed the resource sustainably for 50 years in 2019
